Auburn Coach Hugh Freeze Signs New Contract

Eight-Year Deal Worth Just Under $5 Million Per Year

Liberty University and head coach Hugh Freeze have agreed to a new eight-year contract that will pay Freeze an average of just under $5 million per year, according to ESPN sources. The contract is one of the highest-paid in the country for a non-Power Five coach.

Freeze, who led Liberty to a 10-1 record in his first season as head coach, has a history of success at the collegiate level. He was previously the head coach at Ole Miss, where he led the Rebels to a Sugar Bowl victory in 2015. Freeze was fired from Ole Miss in 2017 after an NCAA investigation found that he had committed multiple violations of NCAA rules.

Freeze's hiring at Auburn was met with mixed reactions. Some fans were excited about the potential of a coach with his track record, while others were concerned about his past off-field issues. However, Freeze has quickly won over the Auburn faithful with his infectious personality and his commitment to winning.

The Tigers are currently 6-4 and bowl eligible this season. Freeze is hoping to lead Auburn to a bowl game victory and build on the momentum he has created in his first season.
