Rickie Fowler's Olympic Journey
A Look Back at His Time in Rio
From Castle Stuart to Rio de Janeiro
In June, Rickie Fowler announced that he would not defend his Scottish Open title at Castle Stuart, citing the tight schedule due to golf's return to the Olympic Games. When the 2016 Rio Olympics welcomed golf for the first time, Fowler joined hundreds of other athletes in Brazil for the Games. Representing Team USA, he finished tied for 37th with Great Britain's Justin Rose.
During his time in Rio, Fowler was spotted hanging out with fellow athletes from other sports and even got an Olympics-themed haircut featuring the iconic five Olympic rings. He also took some time to visit the city's famous Christ the Redeemer statue, which overlooks the city from Corcovado Mountain.
Fowler's journey to Rio was a long one, but it was one that he will never forget. He represented his country with pride and showed the world that he is one of the best golfers in the world.
